Design Objective
A modern home that is warm and inviting, yet upholds the aesthetic ideals of modern design
Located on a heavily-wooded ravine property in Mineola West neighbourhood of Mississauga. Our client purchased the property as a vacant lot with a waterway running through it; a property that was initially deemed undevelopable. The home had to be positioned in the rear corner of the property for maximum tree preservation and to abide by floodplain restrictions. After a 5 year approvals process, including the conservation authority, heritage committee and intense site plan scrutiny from the City of Mississauga Planning Department, the design was approved.
The theme of connection carries inwards to the home’s interior: an open-concept floor plan brings together several spaces, creating a ground floor and basement with a substantial amount of flow, as well as natural light.
This home takes advantage of its gorgeous surroundings at every opportunity. Multiple floor-to-ceiling windows engulf a section of the home, creating a two-storey glass corner that offers beautiful views of the property. Covered porches at both the side and rear of the home further connect the owners to the surrounding nature, while a heavy use of natural materials in the home’s exterior creates an aesthetic bond.

Other interior features of note include a mezzanine, indoor spa, and a double-sided fireplace.
