Majestically positioned, well back from the street, this house had a charm that steered all program requirements. Maint- aining its comfortable size and form was of utmost importance. The home owners were looking to add a rear yard addition to accommodate a large great room and master bedroom suite above. Other enhancements included a new main entry portico, new windows through- out, and recladding all exterior surfaces to help assimilate the new spaces. The success of this project was in the understanding of what made the original home at peace with its surroundings and strengthening those attri- butes.
