This project deals with the rear yard garage. The existing garage was to be removed to make way for a much larger structure. The program requirements called for a four car garage on the main level, a storage area below and a family room and exercise room above. The structure was to connect to the existing home in a manner that did not restrict access to the rear yard. The challenge was to accommodate all spaces on a sloping property without overpowering the existing home. The solution was to borrow as many elements from the existing home and deploy them in a way that produced a timeless result.
